Aljamain Sterling Dismisses Claims He’s UFC ‘Rankings Merchant’

Featherweight fighter Aljamain Sterling has publicly pushed back against accusations from Aaron Pico that he is avoiding lower-ranked opponents to protect his standing. Sterling defended his resume by noting his history of facing unranked challengers and his recent victories over Brian Ortega and Yussef Zalal.

He also emphasized that his scheduling is dictated by the promotion rather than personal choice. While Sterling is currently focused on his upcoming bout against Kevin Vallejos at UFC Qatar, he indicated he is open to a future matchup with Pico if it aligns with his goal of securing a title fight against Alexander Volkanovski.
