Afghanistan reach all-time high No. 6 in ICC Men's ODI team rankings, surpass Sri Lanka

Afghanistan has achieved a historic milestone by climbing to number six in the ICC Men's ODI team rankings, accumulating two thousand nine26 points across thirty-one matches with a rating of ninety-four to overtake Sri Lanka, England, Bangladesh, and West Indies. This ascent is fueled by a series of impressive accomplishments over the past year, including a four-nil away sweep against Ireland and an undefeated run through a tri-series involving Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

In the shortest format of the game, the squad also secured a three-nil whitewash during their ongoing tour of Zimbabwe, culminating in a dominant performance at Sharjah on November 1 2026 where Noor Ahmad dismantled the opposition's middle and lower order before Rahmat Shah's side successfully chased down the target with seven wickets remaining.
