Wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel has returned to the Bengal cricket setup after securing bail, being named in the squad for practice matches ahead of the upcoming domestic red-ball season. The 23-year-old player had been left out of the initial senior probables list following his arrest in August related to allegations brought by a medical student, though he has denied all claims and the legal process remains ongoing.
The Cricket Association of Bengal maintained its policy that players facing unresolved legal matters without a conviction remain eligible for selection, paving the way for his inclusion in the side captained by Sudip Chatterjee. Porel brings substantial domestic and Indian Premier League experience to the squad, having accumulated 1,408 first-class runs and 769 runs for the Delhi Capitals across his career.
