Former cricketer Kris Srikkanth has expressed strong disapproval regarding the handling of fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi by the national team management. The teenager made a brief appearance during the T20I series against New Zealand, highlighted by a quick forty-five run knock off nineteen deliveries in Wellington, but was subsequently relegated to the bench once Ishan Kishan returned from injury.
Srikkanth criticized the decision to drop the young batter and pointed out that he was also overlooked during earlier assignments against Ireland and the West Indies. According to the former captain, failing to provide consistent opportunities and relying on rotation risks dampening the youngster's confidence rather than grooming him for future success.
