Aakash Chopra has expressed strong frustration regarding the Asian Games 2026 cricket tournament after persistent rain and wet outfields forced the abandonment of every quarter-final fixture. Due to these washouts, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh advanced directly to the semi-finals without a single ball being bowled.
India secured their progression following an abandoned Monday match against Afghanistan in Nisshin, and they are now set to meet Sri Lanka on October 1. Chopra criticized the lack of proper drying equipment and preparation in non-cricketing host nations, pointing out that higher-ranked teams could potentially win medals simply through tournament seedings if weather disruptions continue.
The tournament itself runs from September 19 to October 4 across Japan, with matches hosted at Kōrogi Sports Park.
