Asian Games gold reflection of team’s champion mindset: Shreyas Iyer

Indian cricket captain Shreyas Iyer credited his squad's resilient mindset for securing the gold medal at the Asian Games following a 19-run victory over Pakistan in the final on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Despite severe weather disruptions upon their arrival in Japan on September 20 that ruined practice sessions and caused a semifinal buildup dominated by rain, the team avoided excuses and adapted to the conditions.

India successfully defended a total of 211 for six by limiting their opponents to 192 for six, backed by standout performances from Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Jasprit Bumrah.
