No. 19 USC delivered a commanding performance against Penn State on Saturday night, securing a 31-23 victory in a game that marked the Trojans' sixth win of the season.
Quarterback Jayden Maiava led the charge with a standout performance, completing 21 of 29 passes for 301 yards and three touchdowns, while avoiding any interceptions. His efficiency was complemented by running back King Miller, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries, helping USC control the ground game.
The win improved USC’s record to 6-1 and kept them on track for bowl eligibility, while Penn State dropped to 3-3 under first-year coach Matt Campbell, extending their losing streak to three games.
USC’s offense, bolstered by the return of freshman receiver Trent Mosley from injury, dominated the game with 430 total yards and two successful fourth-down conversions. Mosley, who caught nine passes for 111 yards, played a pivotal role in the Trojans’ offensive success, contributing significantly to their seventh-ranked offense in Pro Football Network’s impact rankings.
Despite missing key players like tight end Mark Bowman and left tackle Elijah Paige, USC’s offensive firepower proved too much for Penn State, who managed just 68 rushing yards on 31 attempts. The victory also marked USC’s first win in Beaver Stadium’s annual White Out tradition, where the crowd dresses entirely in white, adding to the Trojans’ momentum heading into their bye week.
