'I will definitely remember this for the rest of my life' – No Pogačar, no problem as veteran Primož Roglič saves Slovenia at the last with fairytale European title triumph

Slovenia finally secured a gold medal at their home European Championships after a difficult start to the event. Following the absence of their top star and a series of underwhelming results, 36-year-old Primož Roglič delivered a winning performance in the time trial.

Despite a malfunctioning radio early in his ride, the veteran relied on his instincts to navigate the course and claim the title. Roglič expressed deep gratitude for the local support and the opportunity to celebrate with his home crowd.

He noted that he is still determining his racing schedule for the upcoming season but plans to showcase the European champion jersey regardless of his future team. This victory provided a memorable conclusion to the host nation's campaign.
