Veteran India skipper Rohit Sharma has explained how his preparation for 50-over matches has evolved now that he has stepped away from Test and T20I cricket. The thirty-nine-year-old batter emphasized that he is utilizing his own schedule to manage his fitness and tactical readiness independently, drawing on a level of personal freedom he lacked during years of continuous international travel.
Ahead of a three-match ODI series against the West Indies, the seasoned leader confirmed his enthusiasm for the upcoming global tournament while maintaining that his commitment to the squad remains unchanged.
During the opening fixture of the series at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, Sharma contributed thirty-two runs from thirty-five deliveries, featuring three sixes and a pair of fours, as his side commenced preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup. Having previously tasted success by winning two T20 World Cups in 2007 and 2024 alongside captaining the side to the 2023 final, the veteran batter noted that he still finds plenty to anticipate as long as his playing career continues.
