Ravichandran Smaran delivered a remarkable performance in the ongoing Irani Cup, rescuing his team from a precarious position with an unbeaten century. Coming to the crease after teammate Saransh Jain departed, the left-handed batsman reached his fifty in 67 balls before accelerating to convert it into a fighting hundred from 113 deliveries.
He found solid support at the other end from Mukesh Choudhary as the pair put together a century stand to push the total well past a 265-run lead.
Smaran continued his stellar red-ball form following a productive Ranji Trophy campaign where he previously accumulated 950 runs. His current innings featured fifteen fours and five successive hits over the boundary, lifting the side after quick dismissals of several teammates including Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, and Manav Suthar left them struggling at 197-8.
