Giro dell'Emilia: Davide Piganzoli takes victory after perfectly timed attack in final five kilometres

Davide Piganzoli secured a solo victory at the 109th edition of the Giro dell’Emilia following a decisive attack during the final descent of the iconic San Luca climb. Tom Pidcock crossed the line three seconds later to claim second place after a determined chase, while Oscar Onley rounded out the podium in third.

The 197.9-kilometre route commenced in Ferrara and featured five demanding ascents of the San Luca climb in Bologna, preceded by earlier climbs over Loiano and the Salita di Via Belvedere. An initial breakaway group of eight riders managed an early advantage before being absorbed by the chasing peloton as the race neared its closing circuits.
