Florida State supporters expressed their dissatisfaction with head coach Mike Norvell by flying an aerial banner over the stadium prior to the team's game against Clemson. The message intended to call for his dismissal, but it contained a glaring spelling error that omitted a letter from his surname.
This protest occurred as the program struggles through a difficult season, currently holding a 3-4 record following a recent double-overtime defeat to Miami. The university president, Richard McCullough, recently addressed the fanbase regarding the need for future-oriented decisions, while the school previously parted ways with athletic director Michael Alford in September.
Norvell, who signed a significant contract extension through 2031, would be entitled to a substantial buyout payment if the university chooses to terminate his employment.
