Deshaun Watson struggles in return as Browns leave Week 2 starting QB under evaluation

Deshaun Watson took the field for the first time since October 2024, but his return proved difficult during Cleveland's 34-10 defeat against the Jaguars. The quarterback, who had secured the first-string role over Shedeur Sanders during the offseason, ended the contest completing 73 percent of his attempts for 205 yards.

However, his performance was undermined by ball-handling troubles, five sacks, an interception, and a lost fumble.

Following his inaugural contest as head coach, Monken stood up for Watson by noting that the entire squad and play-calling fell short, though he stopped short of naming him the starter for the upcoming clash with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Monken indicated that coaches plan to review the game footage and assess all aspects of the team before deciding on the lineup, expressing disappointment in the overall execution while maintaining optimism about correcting the issues.
