Yale’s Dante Reno makes statement one day after father’s shocking death

Just a day after the passing of his father Tony Reno, Yale quarterback Dante Reno led his team to a 41-24 victory over Merrimack by throwing for 298 yards and four touchdowns. Tony Reno served as Yale's head coach from 2012 to 2025 and passed away Friday at age 52 following a battle with a rare neurodegenerative condition.

After a tightly contested first three quarters that saw the score tied 24-24, Dante Reno connected with Garon Kemp for a 20-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Following the game, Dante posted a tribute on social media, while figures such as athletic director Victoria Chun and Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont expressed condolences alongside the wider college football community.
