WSL: Chelsea thrash Man Utd as Olid's tough start continues

Chelsea claimed their opening Women's Super League triumph of the term in emphatic fashion, dismantling Manchester United 5-0 at Leigh Sports Village. Having both been held without a victory on the opening weekend, the away side seized full command before the interval thanks to finishes from Sjoeke Nusken and Keira Walsh, the latter driving home from distance.

The result proved a bitter home debut for United's new head coach, Eva Olid.

The visitors maintained complete superiority after the break, extending their advantage when player-of-the-match Lauren James struck on 61 minutes, quickly followed by an Ellie Carpenter effort four minutes later. Lucy Bronze then added the fifth with the final touch of the contest.

While Chelsea celebrated their first three points, winless United face another challenging fixture next as they travel to take on Arsenal this coming Saturday.
