The Los Angeles Rams’ season took another sharp turn south Sunday, falling to a 16-18 defeat at the hands of the Arizona Cardinals, dropping to a dismal 2-4 record. Despite entering the game with a far superior record, the Rams struggled to capitalize on a favorable matchup, managing just nine points until the final minutes.
Their offense remained stagnant, while special teams and offensive miscues handed the Cardinals six field goal opportunities, sealing their fate. The Cardinals, also at 1-4, relied on efficiency rather than dominance, with their defense stifling LA’s passing game for much of the contest.
On the bright side, a few Rams stood out amid the chaos. Wide receiver Puka Nacua became the offense’s lone bright spot, hauling in six receptions for 79 yards and playing a pivotal role on the final two drives.
Defensive end Aaron Donald continued his dominant run-stuffing ways, disrupting the Cardinals’ offense with multiple tackles for loss. Cornerback Josh Wallace, who has been playing well of late, held his own against heavy coverage, while defensive back Quentin Lake showed flashes of his pre-injury form despite an uneven outing.
The Rams’ struggles extend beyond the scoreboard, with their inability to sustain offensive momentum and repeated defensive lapses raising serious questions about their long-term prospects.
