The Buffalo Bills have entered the 2026 NFL season with a 5-1 record, demonstrating a distinct ability to secure narrow victories that define their current identity. Aside from a 41-31 triumph over the Detroit Lions in Week 2, every contest has been decided by a single score, including wins against the Houston Texans (36-31), Los Angeles Chargers (24-16), Los Angeles Rams (37-34), and Las Vegas Raiders (33-30).
Their sole defeat came in Week 3, a 29-26 loss to the New England Patriots that further highlights the tight margins in which the team is currently operating.
On the offensive side, quarterback Josh Allen continues to provide clutch performances, while running back James Cook III contributed 95 rushing yards, a touchdown, and 58 receiving yards on 22 carries and three catches without a fumble. Wide receiver Keon Coleman has emerged as a reliable option, stepping up significantly after DJ Moore suffered a shoulder injury.
Although the defense remains a developing unit under coordinator Jim Leonhard, cornerback Christian Benford delivered a standout performance by limiting tight end Brock Bowers to just four catches for 70 yards.
