Why Minnesota-Indiana was a surprising choice for ESPN's College GameDay

ESPN has chosen a surprising location for Week 9 of College GameDay, traveling to Bloomington for a matchup between Minnesota and Indiana. The show previously visited Minneapolis in 2019 for a game against Wisconsin and again in 2020 for a season opener versus Michigan.

Despite Indiana being a heavy 20.5-point favorite and the contest airing on CBS rather than an ESPN network, the production bypasses other marquee options like Florida versus Georgia or Arizona against Texas Tech. This trip marks the first time the Gophers will participate in the pregame broadcast as the visiting team.
