Who will the New York Liberty hire at head coach to replace Chris DeMarco? 8 names to watch

The New York Liberty have moved to replace head coach Chris DeMarco following a 28-18 campaign, marking the second coaching vacancy this cycle after the Los Angeles Sparks parted ways with Lynne Roberts. General Manager Jonathan Kolb faces significant pressure to secure a new leader who can capitalize on the team's current roster, which includes Breanna Stewart, Jonquel Jones, and Sabrina Ionescu, all of whom are under contract through 2028.

Potential candidates for the role include Kristi Toliver, a Phoenix Mercury associate head coach who was a finalist in the previous search, and Stephanie White, the current Indiana Fever coach whose availability remains uncertain amid organizational changes. Other names under consideration are James Wade, a former Chicago Sky executive who recently served as an assistant for the Toronto Raptors, and Lindsey Harding, a Los Angeles Lakers assistant who won G League Coach of the Year in 2024.

Jenny Boucek, an assistant with the Indiana Pacers who previously held long-term WNBA coaching roles, is also among those who may receive an interview.
