Should Have Never Fired Sandy (Brondello),’ ‘Grass Ain’t Always Greener’ — WNBA Fans React as Chris DeMarco Departs Liberty After Just 1 Year

WNBA supporters took to social media to voice their frustration after the New York Liberty dismissed head coach Chris DeMarco following a single season in charge. The organization previously parted ways with Sandy Brondello after she captured the franchise's sole championship in 2024 and guided the team to four straight postseason appearances.

Following Brondello's departure, management brought in DeMarco, who previously served as an NBA assistant without prior head coaching experience in the women's league. Although the squad captured the Commissioner's Cup and featured star performers like Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, and Jonquel Jones, they secured only the eighth seed before eliminating the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx in the opening round.
