What’s Next for Novak Djokovic in 2026 After Early Shanghai Exit?

Novak Djokovic experienced a quick departure from the Shanghai Open following a straight-set defeat to Hubert Hurkacz, losing 4-6, 3-6 in the opening round. The veteran tennis star admitted to feeling fatigued and unable to replicate the stellar form that recently earned him his 102nd career title in Beijing.

Hurkacz capitalized on the swift hard-court surface by hammering 13 aces and securing his inaugural career win against the Serbian across nine total meetings. Despite the disappointing setback, Djokovic managed to maintain an optimistic outlook regarding his overall trip to China while looking ahead to the remainder of his competitive calendar.
