India and West Indies Level at 1-1 Ahead of Third T20I in Indore

By Abhinav Earnest · October 11, 2026

Series Locked After High-Scoring Battles

The five-match T20I series between India and West Indies stands level at 1-1 entering the third match at Holkar Stadium in Indore. India opened the series in Lucknow with an eight-wicket win, chasing down West Indies' total of 171 by reaching 172/2 in 14.4 overs, anchored by Shreyas Iyer's 102 off 43 balls.

West Indies struck back on 9 October 2026 in Ranchi, securing a six-wicket victory in historic fashion. India batted first and put up 249/5 in their 20 overs, which became their highest total in a T20I defeat when batting first.

West Indies chased down the 250-run target to finish on 252/4 in 18.3 overs. That effort marked West Indies' highest successful T20I run chase and the second-highest successful chase in men's T20I history.

Shai Hope led the way with an unbeaten 102 off 45 balls alongside Sherfane Rutherford, who contributed 84 off 37 balls. The duo added 120 runs for the fourth wicket, overcoming an early burst from Mayank Yadav, who had removed Kamil Pooran and Shimron Hetmyer off successive deliveries in the first over and later bowled Rovman Powell to leave the tourists at 58/3.

Roston Chase had earlier returned figures of 3/24 in four overs during India's innings.

Team Combinations and Conditions in Indore

India have retained Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma as their opening pair for the third match. In Ranchi, Samson opened and scored 82 off 41 balls with 9 fours and 4 sixes, while Abhishek was dismissed for 20.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was kept on the bench across the first two matches of the series and remains on the bench in Indore. India did make two adjustments to their playing XI, bringing in Nitish Kumar Reddy and Prince Yadav to replace Shivam Dube and Kuldeep Yadav.

At the toss, West Indies captain Shai Hope called correctly and elected to field first. Holkar Stadium features a batting-friendly pitch and short boundaries. Heading into this contest, India had won three of the four men's T20Is played at the venue.
