The NBA’s Week 2 fantasy basketball landscape took a sharp turn for the worse as key players suffered season-altering injuries, leaving managers scrambling to adjust lineups. Anthony Edwards, the Minnesota Timberwolves’ star guard, will miss at least two months after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery following a 47-point outing in overtime against Cleveland.
His absence forces the Timberwolves to lean heavily on Ayo Dosunmu, who has since stepped into the starting lineup and delivered strong production—averaging 19.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists across three starts. Meanwhile, LaMelo Ball’s inconsistency (including a 5-of-21 shooting night against the Warriors) adds further uncertainty, as the team can ill afford extended stretches of subpar play from its point guard while Edwards recovers.
Oklahoma City’s struggles deepened as Chet Holmgren, the Thunder’s top pick, suffered a partially torn patellar tendon and will be out for 8–10 weeks, joining Jalen Williams (ankle/fibula) and Cason Wallace (shoulder) on the injury list. With Holmgren sidelined, rookie Aday Mara has emerged as the better fantasy option for rebounds and blocks, averaging 7.3 boards and 2.7 blocks per game, while Kenrich Williams provides limited three-point upside in Holmgren’s absence.
