Max Verstappen secured victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix held in Malaysia following a weather-delayed start due to a heavy tropical downpour. The race took place at Sepang after Bahrain arranged the event due to regional unrest, marking the country's first hosting duties since 2017.
Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton struggled early on intermediate and soft tyres respectively as Mercedes contenders Kimi Antonelli and George Russell initially surged ahead. After a safety car period prompted by Valtteri Bottas spinning off, Verstappen reclaimed the lead and pulled away from the pack.
Antonelli ultimately finished behind the winner after overtaking Russell, while a late safety car caused by Alex Albon set up a final four-lap sprint to the finish.
