Utah offensive lineman Kelvin Obot has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season following a lower leg injury sustained while playing against Colorado. The freshman, who entered the season as a top-50 recruit and a top-5 tackle prospect, had started three games at guard for the Utes before missing the recent contest against Cincinnati.
Head coach Morgan Scalley acknowledged the significant impact of losing such a key player as the team prepares for a critical stretch of the schedule.
Utah enters this period with an undefeated 8-0 record and a top-5 ranking in the AP Poll, positioning them as a contender for the College Football Playoff. Their next challenge is a highly anticipated rivalry game against BYU, which will mark the first time both programs meet while ranked in the top 10.
The matchup is scheduled for noon ET on Saturday, with Utah holding a 59-24-4 advantage in the all-time series despite BYU winning the last three encounters.
