The selection committee has unveiled the inaugural College Football Playoff rankings for the 2026 season, placing undefeated Miami at the top of the 12-team field. Georgia and Utah occupy the second and third positions, respectively, while Indiana and Alabama complete the top five.
The remaining spots in the top ten are held by Kentucky, Texas, UCLA, BYU, and Ole Miss. The SEC dominates the upper tier with ten representatives in the top 25, including Tennessee at 13, LSU at 14, Missouri at 18, South Carolina at 21, and Florida at 24.
South Carolina's inclusion is notable given their early-season struggles before a recent winning streak. Upcoming high-stakes games, such as Alabama versus LSU and Kentucky against Tennessee, will be critical for teams seeking to improve their resumes before the final field is announced on December 6.
