Fast bowler Akash is set to return to competitive play for the first time since February when representing Rest of India against Jammu and Kashmir in the Irani Cup starting Thursday. The 29-year-old pacer spent seven months recovering and undergoing rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru following a lower back stress fracture diagnosed after a Ranji semifinal.
During his recovery, Akash consulted a dietitian, adjusted his sleep and muscle training habits, and learned to manage his physical workload more effectively to extend his career.
