Veteran fast bowler Umesh Yadav is switching domestic teams ahead of the 2026-27 campaign, making a move from Vidarbha to represent Punjab as a guest player. The Vidarbha Cricket Association has already issued a No-Objection Certificate for the 38-year-old, marking a milestone moment as Punjab brings in its first-ever guest signing in history.
Punjab Cricket Association president Amarjit Mehta confirmed the acquisition, with the regional side seeking to lean on Yadav's extensive international background—which spans 55 Test matches, 75 ODIs, and nine T20Is for India. The squad has endured a 34-year championship drought in the Ranji Trophy, and management hopes the veteran's addition will finally propel them to a title.
