AS Roma’s Champions League campaign suffered another humiliating collapse as Manchester United snatched a dramatic 3-2 victory at Old Trafford. The Giallorossi, already weakened by injuries, saw key players like Pierluigi Gollini sidelined with a back injury, forcing manager Paulo Fonseca to deploy third-choice goalkeeper Devis Vasquez in his debut.
Despite a dominant first half and a 2-0 lead—secured by Matías Soulé’s opener and Donyell Malen’s penalty—Roma’s defense crumbled in the second period, allowing United to stage a late comeback. Roma’s attack, featuring Devyne Rensch, Rodrigo Mora, and Leonardo Balerdi, struggled to maintain control, while Manchester United’s resilience, including a crucial stop by Lenny Yoro, turned the tide.
The match was further marred by Carlos Baleba’s hamstring injury, ending his involvement early.
