Trinity Rodman made an extraordinary effort to support her boyfriend, Ben Shelton, during his historic US Open run by chartering a private jet to New York after playing in an NWSL match for the Washington Spirit. The forward arrived in New York just in time for Shelton’s first Grand Slam singles final against Alexander Zverev at Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 13, despite a grueling travel schedule following her team’s 3-0 loss to the Boston Legacy at Audi Field.
Though Shelton fell short in the final, his performance marked a milestone as the first Black American man to reach the US Open singles final since Arthur Ashe in 1972. Rodman’s presence underscored the couple’s commitment to each other amid demanding athletic careers, having previously attended Shelton’s dramatic five-set victory over Carlos Alcaraz during the tournament.
Both athletes have repeatedly shown dedication to supporting one another’s pursuits, balancing their own professional commitments to be there for key moments in each other’s lives.
