Alex Eala’s 2026 season marked a defining leap forward in her burgeoning career, as the 21-year-old Filipina tennis star delivered standout performances across multiple tournaments. Beginning the year ranked 58th in the world, Eala quickly climbed the rankings after reaching the quarterfinals of the Dubai Tennis Championships in February.
Her breakthrough came at the Washington Open, where she captured her first WTA Tour title by defeating top-ranked players including Elina Svitolina, Naomi Osaka, and Jessica Pegula. The momentum carried into Wimbledon, where she achieved her career-best Grand Slam result by advancing to the fourth round and defeating defending champion Iga Świątek in the process.
By mid-year, Eala had risen to the top 30 globally, further solidifying her status as a rising force in women’s tennis with a semifinal run in Berlin and a push into the top 20 by early July.
