New Zealand is rotating its roster for the upcoming five-match ODI series against India to balance Test match preparation with long-term planning for the 2027 World Cup. Head coach Rob Walter confirmed that several players will depart after the third game to focus on the red-ball series, while others join the squad for the final two fixtures to test depth.
Among the tactical adjustments, the team plans to trial Finn Allen in a middle-order role to better utilize his batting style against spin and late-innings bowling. Mitchell Santner, Michael Bracewell, Mark Chapman, Jacob Duffy, Will Young, and Blair Tickner are the only members scheduled to participate in all five matches.
