Ahead of the fourth match in the five-game series, Indian batsman Tilak Varma discussed his unusual dismissal during the third T20I encounter against the West Indies. Both Varma and batting partner Axar Patel assumed the ball had crossed the boundary rope for a four following a shot off bowler Gudakesh Motie, causing them to wander out of their creases while the ball remained active.
While Patel managed to return safely after recognizing the danger, Varma was caught unawares when fielder Kamil Pooran retrieved the ball and relayed it to Shai Hope and Motie to remove the bails. Varma explained that he had a blind spot regarding that side of the field and simply believed the play had ended.
Despite that odd dismissal, India triumphed in the fixture by 14 runs to claim a 2-1 series advantage, driven by a blistering 69-run knock off 30 deliveries from Abhishek Sharma that set a 223-run target before the visitors finished their innings at 209.
