Through the opening three weeks of the season, the Los Angeles Rams have encountered severe pass protection struggles on the right side of their offensive line, jeopardizing quarterback Matthew Stafford. Guard Kevin Dotson and tackle Warren McClendon have both graded near the bottom of the league in pass-blocking efficiency according to metrics from Pro Football Focus.
Dotson ranks sixty-sixth out of seventy-two guards, surrendering pressure on over eight percent of his pass-blocking reps, while McClendon has yielded six quarterback hits, the highest total among all NFL tackles through three games. Their combined vulnerabilities were especially prominent during a matchup against the Denver Broncos, where McClendon shouldered responsibility for seven pressures and two penalties, and Dotson posted the lowest offensive grade on the team at 37.9.
With free agency approaching in 2027, Dotson faces mounting pressure to reverse his statistical trajectory, as both linemen's early-season struggles have already exposed an aging Stafford to nine total hits across the first three contests.
