The five greatest moments from Stan Wawrinka’s tennis career as he plays final-ever match

Stan Wawrinka has officially concluded his professional tennis career following a first-round loss to Jiri Lehecka at the Basel Open. The Swiss veteran expressed satisfaction with this conclusion to his journey on his home soil.

Throughout his career, Wawrinka secured three major titles. His first came at the 2014 Australian Open, where he overcame Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal to claim the trophy.

He followed this with a 2015 French Open victory against Djokovic and a 2016 US Open title, where he again defeated the Serbian star in the final. His path to the 2015 title included notable wins over Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, while his 2016 run required him to save a match point against Dan Evans.
