The Chicago Cubs are officially locked into a Wild Card Series matchup against the San Diego Padres taking place in San Diego. Following a Padres victory over the Diamondbacks at Petco Park, San Diego secured the top wild card position and ensured that the postseason rematch will be hosted at Petco Park instead of Wrigley Field.

Meanwhile, the Cleveland Guardians captured the American League Central division crown after defeating the Kansas City Royals, earning a first-round bye in the playoffs.
