Former Brewers player Nyjer Morgan, known as Tony Plush, claimed his presence provided a lucky charm for the team. He threw ceremonial first pitches before two recent games, including a Sunday matchup where he brought his children along.
Morgan believes his pregame fist-bump with Jackson Chourio provided the energy needed for Chourio's walk-off hit.
Both Chourio and Moustakas had walk-off singles to center field, mirroring Morgan's own historic 2011 NLDS Game 5 walk-off against Arizona. However, Morgan's luck didn't hold during the 2023 NL Wild Card Series Game 2 against the D-backs, when William Contreras struck out in the ninth inning to end the season.
Contreras later celebrated on the field after Sal Frelick's winning run on Sunday.
