Crosby, Malkin React To Ovechkin Retirement News

Alex Ovechkin has confirmed that the 2026-27 campaign will mark the conclusion of his professional hockey career. The Washington Capitals star has faced the Pittsburgh Penguins 83 times in the regular season, tallying 80 points including 44 goals during those matchups.

Following a morning practice session, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin shared their perspectives on the veteran forward's impending departure. Both Penguins icons acknowledged the difficulty of the sport at their age while expressing respect for his legacy and well-wishes for his final season.

The two clubs are scheduled to meet four times this year, with the first encounter occurring this Wednesday in Washington and the final Pittsburgh appearance for Ovechkin set for March 13.
