The Bear’s Den: Bears victory of Carolina Panthers big in many ways

The Chicago Bears kicked off their 2026 campaign with an explosive road triumph, overwhelming the Carolina Panthers 59-37 on September 13 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. While the offensive unit produced a scoring frenzy, the defensive squad surrendered 37 points in the shootout.

Head coach Ben Johnson, currently in his second year steering the franchise, oversaw a squad that some view as an outside candidate for a Super Bowl push.

Despite the lopsided point total, third-year starting quarterback Caleb Williams showed his demanding nature by declining to celebrate the blowout. Williams labeled the high-scoring clash their poorest showing and stressed that the team still has numerous errors to rectify as the schedule progresses.
