Texas Tech built a comfortable advantage early in the second quarter against Sam Houston, propelled largely by an extraordinary defensive sequence from Austin Romaine. The senior linebacker secured interceptions on consecutive defensive series, returning both passes for touchdowns to stun the visitors.
Brett Holloway and Landyn Locke both threw pick-offs to the former Kansas State transfer during the bizarre sequence. Sam Houston eventually managed to answer later in the quarter when Locke connected with Kyan Berry-Johnson and hit Tim Burns Jr.
for a 52-yard scoring strike.
