Ten-man Southampton secure first league derby win since 2004

Southampton ended a two-decade wait for a league victory against Portsmouth with a narrow 1-0 result. James Bree provided the decisive moment in the first half by converting a pass from Finn Azaz, marking the club's first such derby triumph since November 2004.

The hosts were forced to defend their lead for the entire second half with ten men after Cameron Bragg received a second yellow card for a foul on Ebou Adams. Despite a triple substitution and increased pressure from the visitors, Portsmouth failed to register a shot on target after the break.

Head coach Tonda Eckert praised his squad's resilience in securing the result, which follows his recent six-week suspended ban from the FA.
