Tadej Pogacar has disclosed that his injuries from a Vuelta a Espana accident were more severe than initially diagnosed. While medical staff originally identified a collarbone break and a C7 cervical fracture, a recent CT scan revealed additional fractures to the T1 and T2 vertebrae.
The rider noted that these findings made him grateful to have avoided the European Championships, as he is now focused on a cautious recovery process. Following the incident, the athlete experienced two difficult weeks marked by concussion symptoms and significant mental distress, which he navigated with the support of his partner, Urska Zigart.
He has since resumed a standard training routine in Monaco, incorporating running, swimming, and cycling while avoiding heavy strain on his neck and arm.
