Swansea beat Millwall after game disrupted by alleged racist chanting

October 13, 2026

Swansea City secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Millwall in the Championship after their match at The Den was delayed for nearly seven minutes due to alleged racist chanting directed at South Korean substitute Eom Ji-Sung. The referee halted play in the 65th minute to address both managers, Alex Neil of Millwall and Vitor Matos of Swansea, as well as the fourth official, Ruebyn Ricardo.

Police were later called in to investigate the incident using stadium CCTV footage, though no arrests were reported immediately afterward.

The game itself was a tense affair, with Millwall dominating possession in the first half but struggling to break down Swansea’s well-organized defense. The Lions nearly took the lead twice, with Kyrell Lisbie and Jenson Metcalfe creating clear chances, but Swansea goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux made key saves.

The turning point came late in the second half when Brazilian winger Ronald, who had come on as a substitute, scored the decisive goal in stoppage time after a defensive hesitation by Millwall. Swansea, who entered the match with the best defensive record in the league, maintained their lead at the top of the Championship with the narrow escape.
