Watford suffer fourth straight defeat with hammering by Cardiff

Watford’s relegation struggles deepened after a humiliating 5-1 defeat at Cardiff City, dropping them into the Championship’s drop zone. The Hornets collapsed in the first half, conceding four goals—including a pair from Republic of Ireland forward Jack Moylan, who scored from the penalty spot and in a one-on-one against goalkeeper Federico Ravaglia.

Watford’s defensive frailties were exposed further when captain Mattie Pollock headed into his own net from a corner, while Ollie Tanner sealed the rout in added time. The defeat marked Watford’s fourth consecutive loss and sixth in seven games, with manager Alessio Dionisi now facing mounting pressure from fans who booed both team and staff after the final whistle.

Cardiff, meanwhile, secured their second win of the season with a dominant performance, though Watford’s only bright spot came from Hector Kyprianou’s late consolation goal—too little, too late to salvage a dismal night.
