“Stop The Excuses” – Fans Turn On Carlos Alcaraz After Spaniard Blames Shanghai Masters Balls For Shock 3R Loss

Carlos Alcaraz faced swift backlash from fans after his unexpected third-round exit at the Shanghai Masters, where he lost 7-5, 7-6(4) to Zizou Bergs in a hard-fought two-hour-and-two-minute match. The Spaniard’s defeat sparked controversy when he criticized the ball quality and inconsistent court conditions, claiming the balls used in his match differed from those in earlier play.

Social media users quickly dismissed his remarks, arguing that both players faced identical conditions and urging Alcaraz to accept the loss with dignity. In a post-match press conference, Alcaraz acknowledged his poor performance, admitting he had not played up to his usual standards while praising Bergs for his strong play.

The defeat marks Alcaraz’s latest setback ahead of his next tournament, the Six Kings Slam in Riyadh, scheduled for October 21–24.
