Stefon Diggs endured a bittersweet debut for the Washington Commanders during their 24-22 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1. After hauling in his first touchdown with his new squad, the veteran wide receiver was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct when he embraced the goalpost during his celebration.

The costly penalty severely hindered Washington's subsequent two-point conversion attempt, preventing the team from tying the contest.

Despite the setback and the narrow loss, Diggs expressed excitement about collaborating with fellow wideout Terry McLaurin, whom he praised as an exceptional talent. Meanwhile, quarterback Jayden Daniels steered the offense in the tight opener, which also saw Philadelphia hold on late after previously ruling out edge rusher Jonathan Greenard, alongside Washington entering the matchup following the sudden release of offensive tackle D.J.
