Deion Sanders Fails to Remember Names of His Own Key Players & Colorado Alum is Livid About It

Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes secured a hard-fought 27-24 overtime victory over Kansas State on October 31, but the win was overshadowed by another coaching misstep. During a press conference on November 3, Sanders struggled to recall the names of his own running backs, including standout Richard Young, who posted his season-best performance with 120 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries.

When asked why Young had been limited to just eight carries or fewer in prior games, Sanders admitted he couldn’t remember the roster details, jokingly referencing a mix of names—including a comparison to the Three Stooges—that drew immediate backlash. The remark reignited frustration among fans, who questioned Sanders’ preparation and respect for his players after another awkward exchange involving a player’s name.

Sanders had previously confused freshman center Hank Zalinskas with another player during a 2023 game, though that incident occurred over three years prior. Young, a top-22 recruit in 2023, finally earned a significant workload after Micah Welch’s injury, becoming Colorado’s second 100-yard rusher under Sanders’ tenure.
