During Monday's World Series Game 3, Chandler Simpson experienced a rollercoaster of events at Tropicana Field. The Rays outfielder was tagged out at second base in the first inning after oversliding the bag, despite clocking a sprint speed of 30.5 feet per second to beat the throw from William Contreras.
Simpson quickly atoned for the error in the second inning by tracking down a deep fly ball from Sal Frelick. He secured the out with a leaping grab against the wall, briefly injuring himself on the play but remaining in the contest.
