Pakistan's ODI captain Shaheen Afridi has strongly defended teammate Babar Azam following a rough patch with the bat that prompted harsh scrutiny. Babar struggled significantly during the recent Test series against England with 97 runs, managed only 58 runs across four innings upon returning to domestic first-class cricket, and was out for a duck in the ODI Tri-Series final.
Despite these low returns and a meager 118-run total at a 23.60 average in the triangular tournament, Shaheen remains fully confident in his colleague and pointed out that Babar was previously the top run-getter in the series against Australia. Babar is now preparing for a domestic first-class fixture in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy where he will face Shaheen's squad.
