Real Madrid are currently evaluating long-term plans to eventually succeed thirty-four-year-old goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois. According to reports from journalist Ben Fernandes Santos, the Spanish giants have set their sights on Brighton and Hove Albion netminder Bart Verbruggen as a potential heir to the role.
The twenty-four-year-old Dutch international recently turned in a stellar performance during a fixture against Manchester City, securing a clean sheet and a victory after stopping seven shots at the Etihad Stadium. Verbruggen has established himself as the undisputed starter for both his club and the Netherlands national team following his transfer from Anderlecht in 2023.
Meanwhile, Courtois remains the primary option under manager Jose Mourinho and is currently discussing a contract extension that would keep him tied to the club through 2027.
